As the President of the IHK Reutlingen, Erbe wants to emphasize the further development of activities in education and knowledge transfer. In this case he wants to campaign for additional cooperation between the regional economy and local universities and research facilities.

Small and medium sized companies are to be introduced to the IHK in the form of additional offers, whereby the globalization of smaller companies and their association to the IHK is to be the focal point of activities. A total of around 37 000 companies from the Neckar-Alb region are entered as IHK members.

Erbe has gained the experience of how "spirit and money" - i.e. science and the economy - can be unified by his commitment for his own company as well as through his honorary activities. At ERBE Elektromedizin, the dialogue with science has been a guarantee for success for almost 163 years. In the international dialogue with scientists and users, ERBE developed new surgical procedures which, after practice-oriented testing, benefited all patients.

On a regional and federal basis, Christian O. Erbe is active as the Chairman of the Max Planck Institute's Board of Trustees in Tübingen and a member of the medical technical committee on the health research board of the federal ministry for education and research.
